You can do it...
...You can survive
the selling business by just doing one thing right… ………..Ask for the
Sale
We have all
seen that salesperson without selling skills. They stammer, stumble and
bumble around telling the prospect about their products and services.
Sometimes they are badly dressed, usually wearing clothes from two decades
ago. Most are very much unorganized and unprofessional. I even had one that
was dropped off by another salesperson and stood around after his time with
me for 4 hours waiting to be picked up. I have always found it amusing how
some of them have a set sales speech and if you interrupt them they have to
start all over.
They have no
selling skills. Well no selling skills except the skill of asking for
the sale.
Or do they
only have one selling skill? I think they have at least one more. They
follow the ABC of selling, Always Be Closing, so they must have the skill of
Persistence. I came across a Notre Dame study that shows:
• 46% of the salespeople ask for the sale only1 time
• 26% of the salespeople ask twice
• 12% of the salespeople ask three times
• 9% of the salespeople ask four times
• 60% of the customers buy on the 5th request.
Having only
the selling skills of persistence and asking for the sale will enable you to
survive. Learning and using relationship building skills and techniques
will enable you to prosper.
